Waste not – want not
I ensure very minimal waste by recycling my clay trimmings and water. The trimmings are first dried out and then reconstituted.
The water used for throwing and cleaning up after is stored in a large bin where the clay particles are allowed to settle. My throwing water is sourced from this bin and the settled clay reconstituted.
